On September 28-29, 2024, the International Young Scholars Exchange Conference and the second annual meeting of the MCAA Chinese Scholars Association were successfully held in Hangzhou in a hybrid format with strong support from government and academic partners.

The conference was jointly organized by the MCAA Chinese Scholars Association and the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with strong support from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's Center for International Exchange of Professionals, the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, and the Hangzhou and Qiantang district governments. More than 20 government representatives attended, including Tao Jing of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and Xu Weihua, Vice Mayor of Hangzhou.

The event featured keynote reports by Academician Weihong Tan, Director of the Hangzhou Institute of Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician Andrew Ewing of the University of Gothenburg, who also serves on the Nobel Prize Committee for Chemistry. More than 20 additional well-known scholars and experts from universities, research institutes, and international organizations also attended.

The annual meeting drew more than 300 in-person participants and over 120,000 online views. It was covered by multiple major Chinese media outlets, further expanding its public impact. The conference helped more scholars better understand China-Europe science and innovation funding systems, relevant cooperation policies and opportunities, and provided a high-level platform for interaction and exchange among young scholars from China and Europe.
