UESTC International Young Scholars Forum (Marie Curie Alumni Association Chinese Chapter Session) Held in Wenjiang

On August 6 and 7, the UESTC International Young Scholars Forum, featuring a dedicated session of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Chinese Chapter, was held at the San Yi Innovation Center in Chengdu Medical City. Thirty-four outstanding young scholars from 14 countries and regions joined representatives of provincial, municipal and university departments and distinguished talent representatives for in-depth exchanges under the theme “Gathering Talent at UESTC, Building Dreams for the Future.”

Discussing Talent Development and Scientific Cooperation

UESTC President Hu Jun welcomed the international young scholars and introduced the university’s history and Double First-Class development. He said the university would provide strong support and high-quality services for scholars to develop their careers at UESTC.

Li Xiaocui, Deputy Director of the Wenjiang District Science and Technology Bureau, presented Wenjiang’s location advantages, industrial development and talent policies, with particular attention to its foundation and potential in electronic information industries.

Fan Mo, Vice President of the MCAA Chinese Chapter, introduced the Chapter’s mission and activities and shared his growth experience under the Marie Curie Actions. He thanked UESTC for its support of international young scholars and expressed the hope that the forum would set an example for exchange and cooperation, contributing to China-Europe science and technology cooperation and talent exchange.

Deepening Exchange and Bringing Young Talent Together

UESTC representatives introduced major opportunities for young talent, the university’s disciplinary development and measures to support talent. A returning overseas scholar also shared his experience of studying abroad and choosing to develop his career in China.

Focused exchange for fundamental research

After the opening ceremony, scholars joined three groups on frontier interdisciplinary research, basic research and electronic information for focused exchanges with UESTC schools and departments. Participants also visited areas around the Qingshuihe Campus, while schools organized further sub-forums for in-depth academic exchange.

The forum was hosted by UESTC and the MCAA Chinese Chapter, and co-organized by UESTC’s Talent Office, the Wenjiang District Talent Work Leading Group Office, and the UESTC San Yi + AI Science and Technology Park, with support from the Oxford Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the Cambridge Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
