Exploring Frontier Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation: Symposium on Embodied Intelligence and Industrial Software Successfully Held

On August 8, 2026, the Symposium on Frontier Interdisciplinary Research in Embodied Intelligence and Industrial Software was held at the Qingshuihe Campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). The event was jointly organized by UESTC’s School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and School of Electronic Science and Engineering. 2026 Chengdu · Chunhui International Young Scholars Exchange Event Kicks Off

On July 15, the 2026 Chengdu · Chunhui International Young Scholars Exchange Event opened at the China-Europe Center in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, attracting over 300 young scholars from around the world. Co-hosted by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (under the Ministry of Education), the Sichuan Provincial Talent Office, and the Chengdu Municipal Talent Office, the event launched seven major service brands for returning overseas students and appointed four overseas "talent ambassadors." The event featured three dedicated industry matchmaking sessions focusing on: Future Transportation and Smart Cities, Future Medicine and Biomedicine, and AI, Robotics, and Aerospace Information. Supporting activities included venture capital networking and site visits to industrial parks, aiming to align overseas talent outcomes with Chengdu's key industrial chains. State‑level Embodied AI Platform Lands in Chengdu to Train Robots with Sourced Datasets

On July 11, 2026, OpenAtom OpenLET, a national open‑source embodied AI dataset community, launched a Chengdu working group at UESTC. It has open‑sourced 60,000+ minutes of real‑robot data to lower R&D barriers. The group will partner with local universities and enterprises to add southwest‑specific data, drive research and talent training, and empower smart manufacturing and humanoid robotics in western China.

From December 7 to 12, 2025, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, the association joined the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and other partners to organize the "Chunhui · Marie Curie Overseas Talent Shanghai Tour" for in-depth exchanges between overseas Marie Curie scholars and domestic universities and research institutes.

The exoskeleton robot developed by Professor Cheng Hong’s team at UESTC has become a benchmark case in the reform of ownership of job-related scientific and technological achievements, thanks to its core technological breakthroughs and mature industrial application. The achievement fills a domestic gap in intelligent rehabilitation equipment, breaks the monopoly of foreign products in the high-end rehabilitation robot market, and has been used in more than 500 medical institutions, benefiting over 50,000 patients.

At the “Future Night” event held on August 27, 2024, Cheng Hong, Director of the Robotics Research Center at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, shared how his team developed exoskeleton robots to help people with paralysis stand and walk again. The team’s exoskeleton robots had already been used in more than 100 hospitals, and Cheng hopes they will be applied in more clinical settings and help disabled elderly people achieve true human-machine collaboration.
